Replacement of Tulip Sandoz 40mg Atorvastatin
Previously the above mentioned drug have been prescribed to my dad. And recently we found that the abovementioned brand have been discontinued and we can't really find the drug in all the pharmacies. So, is it okay for my dad to take another brand, named Ranbaxy Storvas C 40mg Atorvastatin as replacement? Also, is there any other recommended brand to replace the abovementioned drug.*My dad is the patient of Dr. Tay from Pantai Ayer Keroh. Due to some reason, my dad will only do his follow-up on the coming December. Thank you.

Answer:

We extend our sincere gratitude for choosing Pantai Hospital Malaysia for your healthcare requirements.

It's important to consult with your dad's doctor, especially since he's under Dr. Tay's care. While Ranbaxy Storvas C (atorvastatin) may be a suitable alternative,  it is important to get Dr Tay's advice to confirm if it's appropriate based on your dad's specific medical history and needs.

If your dad's medication has been discontinued, he should reach out to Dr. Tay’s clinic for guidance on switching to another brand or finding an equivalent medication. They may also suggest other brands of atorvastatin or alternatives that can help manage his condition effectively. It's best to wait for the follow-up appointment or contact the doctor's office for advice in the meantime.
