High Fever, should I send to Emergency department
Hi doctor, my son has recovered from fever 3 days ago but today his fever returned and his temperature is 39.8oC. Should I bring him to the emergency department?

Answer:
I'm here to help you as an emergency doctor. I understand your concern about your son's fever. A temperature of 39.8oC is considered high, especially if it has returned after a few days of recovery from a previous fever. Here are some steps you can take before considering going to the emergency department:
1. **Medication**: You can give your son syr paracetamol to help bring down his fever. Make sure to follow the correct dosage for his age and weight.
2. **Hydration**: Encourage your son to drink plenty of fluids like water, clear broths, or electrolyte solutions to prevent dehydration. If your son is unable to take anything orally bring him to the emergency department as soon as possible.
3. **Monitor**: Keep a close eye on your son's symptoms. If the fever persists, gets worse, or if he shows signs of distress like difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting, or a rash, then it's important to seek medical attention promptly. If your son's temperature remains high despite taking medication, or if he shows any concerning symptoms, it would be best to take him to the emergency department for further evaluation and treatment. Trust your instincts as a parent and prioritize your son's health and well-being.
